Low-Stress Handling for
Your Pets

A trip to the veterinarian’s clinic can cause stress for both pets and their owners. For numerous cats and dogs, a routine check-up can turn into a distressing experience involving unsettling procedures, potentially leading to aggression. At Haw River Animal Hospital we understand this can be worrisome for pet parents who may feel anxious witnessing their beloved companions undergoing necessary yet anxiety-inducing examinations. Consequently, this stress may discourage them from seeking vital health check-ups for their pets in the future. We have two certifications to put your worries at ease.

Fear Free Certification

Dr. Katie Sizer at Haw River Animal Hospital is Fear Free Certified. The Fear Free Certification aims to combat and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating those responsible for their well-being. The certification process encompasses a comprehensive set of courses so you can trust your pet can have a good experience.

The Cat Friendly Practice program (CFP), established jointly by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) and the International Society for Feline Medicine (ISFM), is a global initiative dedicated to enhancing feline care by minimizing stress for cats, caregivers, and veterinary teams. The CFP provides comprehensive guidance on the necessary steps to alleviate fear and stress during a cat’s visit to the veterinary clinic. Dr. Sizer is CFP Certified.
